Bringing cheer to Malayalam cinema, Suraj Venjaramoodu bagged the Best Actor award in the 61st National Film Awards. His portrayal of a sweeper in Dr Biju's directorial 'Perariyathavar' won him the fame. The Malayalam Film Industry had a proud moment after Suraj won the award.
In ‘Perariyathavar’ Suraj plays the role of a city sweeper. “My character doesn’t have any name in the film, he is just a nameless face among the crowd of garbage collectors who keep the city clean. The film tries to see the changing society through the eyes of a marginalised individual,” he says.
