`Drishyam` Kannada remake!

Malayalam actress Navya Nair will step into the shoes of southern actress Meena in the Kannada remake of recent Malayalam blockbuster "Drishyam".

The remake is set to go on floors March 11. Meena, who was supposed to do the remake, is currently busy shooting for the Telugu remake of the same film.

"Navya Nair has been confirmed for the role originally played by Meena, who couldn't be signed because she has already started shooting for the Telugu version. Navya fits the role of a mother and a middle-aged wife perfectly," the film's director P. Vasu told IANS.

"Regular shooting starts from March 11 in Coorg," he added.

While Mohanlal played the lead in the original, Kannada superstar Ravichandran will reprise his role in the remake.

The film, which has already created a buzz in the industry, will see Ravichandaran and Navya Nair sharing space for the first time. Actress Navya Nair, who had acted in Kannada movies like Gaja and Boss, is staging a comeback to Sandalwood with this movie. She will play Ravichandran's wife character, which was originally essayed by Meena in Drishyam. It is said that major portions of the movie will be shot in Madikeri.

Madhu Neelakantan is the cinematographer, Ilayaraja is the music director and M S Ramesh has written the dialogues for the movie. The film also has Achyuth Kumar, Srinivasmurthy, Suchendra Prasad and Sadhu Kokila in significant roles.
